So, you want a pet/companion animal, but you don't know what's available or you don't know much about the one you want. Well, that's why this is here. On this thread, I'll list all of the available creatures of the world that can be tamed, as well as information about them, where they can be found, and how they can be tamed. Be warned, some creatures are unique to certain nations, so a fire nation shopkeep can't really have a sky bison.
Along with the name and information on the creature, a number will be included with each representing the difficulty in training/taming one, with 1 having the creature imprint on you upon seeing you and 10 being impossible in every alternate universe. The name of each creature will be colored to represent how easily the creature would travel. Red means that transporting it would be incredibly difficult or not worth it; yellow means that it could be transported, but it would be troublesome; green means that the creature could be transported; and blue means that the creature could transport you.
(Keep in mind that these are creatures that could be tamed/owned. This is not every creature present in the world.)
Aardvark Sloth (3)- A medium-sized animal, kept as a pet in the Fire Nation. They are docile and can be used to help clean surfaces. Taming method is unknown, but one could likely be purchased.
Arctic Camel (4)- A large, two-humped camel with white fur. Used for transportation in the Southern Water Tribe. Docile in nature, with thick fur. How to tame it isn't known, but one could likely be purchased.
Badgermole (7)- A large creature that lives underground in the Earth Kingdom. It can be used as a beast of burden, clearing areas or carrying items. Although aggressive when wild, it can be tamed. Method is unknown, though they likely tend to be less aggressive towards earthbenders.
Buffalo Yak(4)- A large creature used by the Northern Water Tribe as a method of transport, as well as mounts for the military. Horse-sized, with curved horns on each side of its head. Docile in temperament, and very fast. The method for taming is unknown, but one could likely be purchased.
Camelephant (5)- A large creature native to the deserts of the Earth Kingdom. Used for transportation. Taming and temperament are unknown, but one could likely be purchased.
Cat (4)- Just a cat. Present in the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation. Likely kept for the same reasons as humans keep cats: Pets and pest control. Taming would probably be similar, or one could be purchased.
Catgator (7)- An aquatic creature, 7-8 feet long. Eats almost anything, and only known to live in the lands of the Foggy Swamp Tribe. While seemingly aggressive, it actually appears to be docile among humans. While one could be tamed, it is unlikely that it would ever leave the swamp.
Cat Owl (4)- An owl, with a cat's head and tail. About the size of a Great Horned Owl. Found in the forests of the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom. Taming method is unknown, but one could be purchased.
Dog (3)- Just a dog. Present in the Earth Kingdom. Just a companion animal. Taming is likely similar to the real world, and one could be purchased.
Dove (2)- Just a dove, similar to its real world equivalent. When tamed, it is used to aid in theatrical performances. One could likely be purchased.
Dragon (9)- The original firebenders, respected by the Fire Nation and companions to the few that could match them. They are highly intelligent and very powerful, as well as loyal to their owner. Very few would be capable of taming a dragon.
Dragon Moose (4)- A large, hoofed animal used as a method of transportation or as a beast of burden. Present in the Fire Nation, one could likely be purchased.
Eel Hound (8)- A long, tall lizard-like creature that can run incredibly fast for vast distances. Very wild in nature, it is difficult to tame. It likely could not be purchased.
Fire Ferret (3)- A small creature, similar to a red panda. Docile and intelligent, they are native to the bamboo forests of the Earth Kingdom. Taming method is unknown (though likely simple), and one could be purchased from a pet shop.
Flying Bison (N/A)- A massive creature, companion to the Air Nomads. Young Air Nomads would choose a bison to be their companion for life, so this creature would only be available to airbenders. Sky Bison are large creatures, big enough to carry small groups (3-5) long distances, or larger groups (6-9) for a short while before being grounded. They can airbend using their tails and mouths, and are incredibly strong fighters. Their loyalty is unmatched. The only ones to receive Sky Bison are airbenders or the Avatar.
Giant Rhinoceros Beetle (6)- A massive insect native to the deserts of the Earth Kingdom. Used as a beast of burden and for transportation. Taming method is unknown and they appear to be only used by a certain group, so it is unknown if one could be purchased.
Goat Dog (2)- A small, dog-like creature kept as a pet in the Earth Kingdom. Taming method is likely similar to that of a dog, and one could probably be purchased.
Goat Gorilla (8)- A large, carnivorous, primate-like creature native to the Earth Kingdom. They are very territorial and extremely aggressive to any intruders. While one can be tamed, it is also incredibly difficult. When tamed, they are intelligent, loyal, and very protective. One could not be purchased.
Hippo Cow (5)- A large, domesticated creature kept in the Fire Nation as a source of food. It is carnivorous and fat. One could likely be purchased, but it is only kept as food.
Hybrid Pigs (2)- (Moo-sow, Picken, Pigster, Pig Deer, and Wooly Pig) Small, pig-like creatures kept as livestock in both the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation. The size and shape of pigs, but the physical features of their counterparts (Cow, Chicken, Rooster, Deer, and Sheep, respectively). Taming method is unknown, but one could be purchased.
Iguana Parrot (6)- A bird/lizard cross, native to the Earth Kingdom. Capable of both flying and moving on four limbs. Loyal and temperamental only to its owner, it is aggressive towards others. Seems to be intelligent and trainable. It is unknown if one could be purchased.
Komodo Rhino (5)- A common animal in the Fire Nation, kept as either a beast of burden or as a source of food. Komodo Rhinos are commonly used as cavalry mounts, as their hide is thick and their horns sharp. They seem to be calm around fire. One could possibly be purchased, though the most likely way to get one would be through the military.
Lop-Eared Rabbit (2)- Similar to a real rabbit, the only difference being that its floppy ears are about the size of the rest of its body. Kept as a pet in the Earth Kingdom, and one could be purchased.
Messenger Hawk (3)- A bird present in the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom, used to transport messages quickly and over long distances. They appear to be loyal and calm, as well as intelligent. One could be purchased.
Mongoose Dragon (5)- Quick-moving lizard-like creatures (18-20 feet long) used as a method of transportation. They are fast and agile, capable of moving over multiple surfaces (including vertical walls and water). They have quick reflexes and are capable of dodging attacks while keeping their rider steady. Present in the Fire Nation.
Ostrich Horse (5)- A large (approximately 10 feet tall), bird-like creature used as transportation in the Earth Kingdom. It is fast and agile, and can be used to carry people, materials, or carriages, and is even present in the Earth Kingdom military as a cavalry mount. One could likely be purchased.

Raven Eagle (5)- A large bird capable of being tamed. It hunts other birds, and is legally kept as a pet, although it can also be used to intercept messenger hawks. Method of taming is unknown, but one could possibly be purchased.
Sea Lion (6)- A large, aquatic animal used to transport boats across the sea.
Shirshu (7)- A large, ferocious creature native to the Earth Kingdom. It is strong, agile, and large, capable of using long claws and a paralyzing tongue to fight. Their sense of smell makes them attractive to trackers. Can be tamed (method unknown), but likely not purchased.
Sparrowkeet (2)- A small bird that can be purchased at pet shops.
Turkey Duck (2)- A bird kept presumably kept as food in the Earth Kingdom. One could likely be purchased.
Winged Lemur (2)- A small monkey-like creature with large ears. Found only in the Air Temples. Very intelligent, and seemingly easy to tame.
Yak (5)- Found in the North Pole, this creature seems to be entirely based off of the real world yak. It's a large, thick-furred herbivore. It's unknown if it can be tamed, although it likely can due to the similarities to its real world equivalent.
This list could update as time goes on, so check back every once in a while. And, above all, have fun with your new, (possibly) furry friend!
Disclaimer: The numbers for each creature do not represent the level necessary to train them. This is my (Magiik)'s idea on the difficulty level of training/taming the creature. Most of the ones that could be purchased at a pet store are 2, while the most dangerous are 9.
